Water Quality Impacts
¥Optimal land use type for erosion control
¥Vegetation provides a physical barrier to erosion and a sink for nutrients
¥63% of the watershed
Forest
As I mentioned earlier, each land use type influences water quality differently by contributing different amounts of runoff and nutrients.
Forest is the optimal land use type for water quality.  The thick vegetation in forests provides a physical barrier to rainwater and controls erosion of the soil.  Forest also acts as a nutrient sink by taking up Nitrogen and Phosphorus for plant growth.
Forest comprises the majority of the watershed, at 63% of the total area.
