Water Quality Impacts
Exposed soil erodes quickly
Chemical fertilizers are high in phosphorus
Often heavy pesticide inputs
<1% of the watershed
Agriculture
Agricultural land contributes to lake inputs through the erosion of exposed soil, and runoff from agricultural fields commonly contains high-Phosphorus fertilizers or ecologically harmful pesticides.
However, agriculture currently represents a very small portion of the Togus Pond watershed (at less than 1% of the total area).
