Erosion on Ingraham Mountain Road
This is a picture of sever erosion on Ingraham Mountain Road.  Erosion is a common problem when water is not diverted off the roadbed, softening the roadbed and making it susceptible to ruts (point out ruts, lack of full crown).  It can be avoided by regular grading to maintain a crown, a high place in the center of the road, so runoff flows to either side.  U-shaped ditches on the sides of the road can contain and direct runoff to settle into vegetated areas and not the lake!
