The goal of our buffer strip survey was to evaluate each shoreline property.  We created a category rating system to evaluate buffer strip effectiveness which took into consideration several factors.

A buffer strip was given a good rating: if it had sufficient depth and length along the shoreline, a moderate slope, and had trees, shrubs, and ground cover.   In contrast, an unacceptable buffer was patchy along the shoreline, shallow in depth and did not vary in composition.
