The results of our survey show that about 50% of the shoreline houses have good or fair buffer strips.  However, the other 50% had poor or unacceptable buffer strips that require improvement.

We found that 55% of properties have less than 60 ft of shoreline indicating that the houses are very close together.  Also 61% of the houses have a 0-10 ft buffer depth which is too shallow to prevent runoff.

China Lake has heavy shoreline development and there are only a few forested areas on the East Basin.
