•Ditch

–Diverts water flow off road and away from body of water

–U-shape, do not exceed depth:width ratio of 2:1


		DITCH:
		•Use proper soil, grass, shrubs and stones to avoid erosion
	•Keep ditch free of debris
	Culvert
	•Water bar is a ridge (like a speed bump)-->stops water from running down road and diverts it to the side
	•Rubber bar: best for seasonal and driveway use b/c susceptible to plow damage
	•Set in ground at 30 degree downslope with pitch of 2-4%
	•Have 1in. crown for every 10 ft. culvert length
