IÕm going to talk about what a phosphorus budget is, how it is calculated, what we found, and why it is important.
The phosphorus budget is an estimation of the amount of phosphorus entering the lake from external sources, such as various land use types, septic systems, and development, and internal sources (or release of phosphorus from the sediments).
It involves creating a mathematical model that is used to make current estimates, and can also be used to make future estimates based on predicted land use changes within the watershed.
