Phosphorus Model:
How is it Calculated?
W = (Eca x As) + (Ecmf x Areamf) + (Eccp x Areacp) + (Ecp x Areap) + (Ecg x Areag) +
(Ecw x Areaw) + (Ecrl x Arearl) + (Eccm x Areacm) + (Eccr x Areacr) + (Ecsr x Areasr) + (Ecs x Areas) + (Ecn x Arean) + [Ecss x #capita years x (1-SR1)] + [Ecns x #capita years x (1-SR2)] + [IA x (1-SR3A)] + [IB x (1-SR3B)] + [IC x (1-SR3C)] + (Sd x Ab)
W = total amount of P entering the lake in a year (kg/yr)
(Ec x Area) = amount of P from a particular land use type
Septic systems
Schools and residential summer camps
Sediment release
Finally, the model also accounts for the amount of phosphorus released from the sediments of the lake.
If you have any questions about how any of these variables were calculated, I would be happy to address them at the end of the presentation.
