To reach goal of 15

–Sediment
release - to reduce internal phosphorus cycling
Phosphorus
Model: Implications and Conclusions
So, the take home point is
that in order to reach the goal of achieving a phosphorus concentration of
15ppb, both external and internal sources must be addressed.
It is important to address
external sources to reduce the amount of new phosphorus that enters the lake
each year. This can be done by
taking measures such as improving buffer strips, maintaining roads and newer
septic systems and replacing older systems when necessary.
Sediment release must also
be addressed, to reduce the amount of internal phosphorus cycling that occurs
year after year, especially since this accounts for nearly half of the total
amount of phosphorus within China Lake.
Next, Ethan is going to talk
about different methods that can be used to do this.
