The stocking of fish is
administered by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The
purpose of stocking is two-fold: to create self-sustaining populations of
native fish and to improve
|
|
recreational angling
opportunities. Salmonids, which include brook trout and landlocked salmon,
prefer cold waters associated with deeper depths and may be struggling as a
result of the low levels of
|
|
dissolved oxygen found at
these depths in Long Pond North. The DO levels in the lake will be discussed
later in the presentation.
