The stocking of fish is administered by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The purpose of stocking is two-fold: to create self-sustaining populations of native fish and to improve
recreational angling opportunities. Salmonids, which include brook trout and landlocked salmon, prefer cold waters associated with deeper depths and may be struggling as a result of the low levels of
dissolved oxygen found at these depths in Long Pond North. The DO levels in the lake will be discussed later in the presentation.
