GIS allows the user to
combine data or layers (such as the ones you see here), to create new layers
and ultimately draw a map. An
example would be to combine the soil, elevation, and stream layers (seen
here), and then a map could be drawn that displays areas of specific slope,
soil type, and distance from streams.
