Physical Parameter
From the 3 main sources of water addition on the previous slide, the most basic is runoff.  It has a constant coefficient of 0.622m/yr (POINT).  This value was determined by the Kennebec Regional Planning Commission based on slope, local soil type, and land use.  Total volume of runoff is calculated by multiplying the runoff coefficient and the land area of the direct watershed (POINT).
Water could also be gained through direct precipitation on the lake.  10 years of rainfall data at the Waterville treatment plant were analyzed.  Average annual precipitation (POINT) over this period was multiplied by the lake surface area (POINT).
Water was lost through evaporation.  Its coefficient was similarly derived as 0.56 m/yr from the KRPC (POINT).  This coefficient was multiplied by the surface area of Long Pond North (POINT) to yield the amount of water lost annually to evaporation.
