Percent Contribution of Phosphorus
The phosphorus budget could then be broken down to its components.  The largest source of p loading in LPN are the 3 pt source inputs: Great Pond, Beaver Pond, and Whittier Pond together account for 55%of the total mass of P.  Great Pond alone provides 47% of this (POINT).
With the water budget results, this confirms that the water quality of LPN is determined to a large degree by the water quality of Great Pond.  CEAT in Summer 2006 measured the P concentrations in Great Pond to be 9.3 ppb, significantly higher than LPN.  This suggests that the P level due to this point source input to LPN may increase.
16% of the phosphorus loading came from sediment release (POINT).  This value is highly dependent on the stability of water chemistry factors such as pH and DO.
The remaining 24 percent was related to land use (POINT).
