The phosphorus budget could
then be broken down to its components.
The largest source of p loading in LPN are the 3 pt source inputs:
Great Pond, Beaver Pond, and Whittier Pond together account for 55%of the total
mass of P. Great Pond alone
provides 47% of this (POINT).

|
With the water budget
results, this confirms that the water quality of LPN is determined to a large
degree by the water quality of Great Pond. CEAT in Summer 2006 measured the P concentrations in Great
Pond to be 9.3 ppb, significantly higher than LPN. This suggests that the P level due to this point source
input to LPN may increase.

|
16% of the phosphorus
loading came from sediment release (POINT). This value is highly dependent on the stability of water
chemistry factors such as pH and DO.
|
|
The remaining 24 percent was
related to land use (POINT).
