Long pond has three types of value: Aesthetic, Economic, and Ecological. It’s a beautiful lake to enjoy a hike around, a swim in, or a boat trip over.
	It’s economic value is shown by the increasing property values of parcels as you approach the lake, as well as the commercial operations based around it.
	Ecologically, it’s part of a connected chain of lakes which can share nutrients and species and it’s outflow contributes to the Kennebec River. Similar problems affect all three values.
