Phosphorous is coming from three main sources: Almost half from Great Pond, a quarter from land runoff, and 16 % from sediment release. When phosphorous levels get above 15 ppb, algal blooms can occur. The averages over the last summer of testing various sites on Long Pond ranged from 5 to 12 ppb.
