Gleotrichia has become a visible problem on Long Pond�s surface in the past few years. It mostly impacts people�s enjoyment of the lake, but with sufficient populations it will start to disrupt the nutrient cycle. It�s lifecycle and effects on lake health are currently being studied at Colby by Drs. King and Firmage with help from undergraduates.
