Although population size is predicted to remain stable, residential development could still happened because of the decreasing mean household size. If development in the watershed continues it will most likely occur first along major roads and on lots near Pattee Pond.  However, like I have said, the new zoning code and conservation district, if approved, would act as a deterrent for development in the watershed due to the restrictions in lot size and allowed percentages of impervious surfaces.

Either way, the town of Winslow recognizes the need to keep Pattee Pond clear and healthy for the benefit of the entire town. Higher water quality leads to higher property values around the lake, which will generate more tax for the benefit of the entire town.
