1) What if I'm not going to be on campus next semester, can I still take advantage of the U-Sell program?
Yes. Leave us an address where we can mail you a check.
2) How do I know what price to set?
It's your book, and you can ask any price you want. Often students will price the book to match the bookstore's used copy price, or to slightly undercut our price. We will be happy to let you know what we anticipate our selling price will be.
3) I see my book sold on the first day of classes, why do I have to wait for my money?
Textbooks are returnable. Funds are distributed shortly after the close of the textbook return period.
4)What are the chances my book will sell?
In the past nine years, only a few U-Sell books have not sold. You set the price for your book, so you have control.
5)Why wouldn't I want to just sell the book on my own?
You can certainly sell your book on your own, however we think this is a great program. There is no making up of posters or flyers. You get all the money, the bookstore doesn't charge a handling fee. Students can buy your book using a credit card, financial aid package, cash, or check, the same as with any other book. Your book is placed on the top of the stack of used books, so it is seen by every student looking at the books for the course.
6)Can I U-Sell all my books?
The books of yours which have the most value to other students are those which are being used on campus next semester. We've got the most up-to-date list possible of the books faculty have definately assigned for next semester's courses. You can U-Sell any book which is on this list of "adopted" books.
If we haven't answered your questions fully, please send e-mail to Judy Balbo (jpbalbo @colby.edu), or give us a call (207)872-3337. We'll be happy to help.
