Joseph F. Meyer ’79

Joe Meyer '79
Colby had a profound impact on Joe's life, opening doors that he never imagined existed. Upon graduation he completed a Watson Fellowship that allowed him to explore his interests in Asian history and economics, which he initially developed on Mayflower Hill.

Fast forward 30-some years, and Joe is now chief administrative officer of HKEx, one of the world's largest exchange owners, based in Hong Kong. Joe oversees major projects and the administration and human resources departments. He attributes his successes and ability to deal with life's adversities in an international environment largely to the rigorous academic experience he had at Colby.

In recent years Joe has made a series of charitable gift annuities to Colby as an excellent way to diversify his savings and to prepare for retirement while also contributing to the future strength of a unique educational institution.
