Here is a partial list of some of the things we have participated in.
KRUP deadline is Friday!
If you want to come with us to New Orleans for Spring Break for hurricane relief, make sure to sign up before Friday! Register online at https://www.gracefultools.com/events/12048
We went last year and had a great and productive time. It is an awesome chance to help the people who are still suffering from Katrina, learn about social injustice, see how Christian faith fits into it all, and decide what it all means for your life.
If you have any questions, email Ellen Ramage (elramage).
MercyMe Concert
We will be attending the MercyMe concert
(featuring Phil Wickam) in Portland as a group! The concert is Sunday,
November 14. We are leaving at 4:30, and will probably get back around
1:00 am. Contact Chelsea Tyler (crtyler) if you want to come.
Fall Conference 2010
At Fall Conference in
Ocean Park, we refreshed, restarted, and renewed with other
students from Maine colleges! Intervarsity staff and volunteers spoke and lead workshops about faith. In between these and worship, we met the students from other schools, played on the beech, and slept/hung out in a lounge by the fire.
Spring Break Trip to New Orleans
18 Colby students, many of
whom are not a part of the Christian fellowship, went on InterVarsity's
Katrina Relief Urban Plunge in New Orleans. We took a bus, stayed at a
church with other New England college students, and did hurricane
relief -- picking up trash, ripping up tile, and building a house with
Habitat for Humanity. In addition, some students participated in a
tutoring program. In the evenings, we hung out together, playing
basketball and card games, and had discussion groups to talk about our
experiences and how God is involved. It was a great experience: keep an
eye out for information about this year's trip!
Winter Retreat
A retreat Sat. evening to Sun. (Feb 20-21) at the local church Blessed Hope to spend some time with God and each other, and to talk about the upcoming semester.
BCM Conference
The first weekend of spring semester Black Campus Ministries held a conference in MA. Contact Daniel Adams (dhadams) to hear more about it!
Urbana '09
A few days of worship and learning about what God's doing in the world with over 15,000 college students at Intervarsity's Urbana '09, December 27-31! Contact Allison Straw (ajstraw) or Daniel Adams (dhadams) if you'd like to hear about the conference.
