COC MINUTES 2.15.0niner

Hello, members! Buckle your seatbelts because there is a new sextretary: this guy – the real batman – Jake Marty

TRIP REPORTS
:

Moonlight XC ski adventure with LaFleur and Judy. There were four participants all without headlamps which made it extra spooky. It also meant a lot of wipeouts. Judy ate sh** and bled. She claims to have almost cried, but we took a vote and decided: she cried.

Trip to the Campus Life Office with Eric and Joanna. Sounds like it was relatively unsuccessful. Probable crying.

A Canadian XC ski marathon with Jenny & Andy. Did I mention it was in Canada? What does that mean? That means they got to sleep on the floor of a school with crusty Canadian men. Clearly an adventure, but no blood OR guts.

Tele at the Titcomb with Chris & David. Crazy good time. Knees were dropped.

Yoga in Togas with Joannta. Subbing for the other hot yoga instructor: Liz. [shoutout to John randomly placed]

UPCOMING TRIPS:

MAPLE SYRUPING: Meet at 2PM on Friday in the office. Possible layover into Saturday.

YOGA: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4PM in the office.

TUMBLEDOWN HIKE: Meet Sunday for an 8:30 Dana breakfast with Molly and Sarah.

TEEN CENTER HIKE: at 3PM on Friday with Hannah. Sign up online.

LADY’S CLIMBING NIGHT: Come down to the wall from 7 to 9PM on Tuesday. (This should be CMC minutes, but they don’t have a sextretary so I’ll do it for them)

TELE WITH CLOWNS: Meet at 8AM Saturday morning in Dana for a tele clinic at the Loaf with Mr. Perkins & the Foster-Moore. Meet Thursday at 7PM in the office for gear rental.

SAUSAGE FEST IN THE SNOW CAVE WITH GUSTOV: with Gustov. May happen this Saturday given conditions. Email cggordon@colby.edu with your inquiries. Should be a wild time. Watch this video for a better understanding here.
SNOW SHOE RACE: at 11AM this Saturday. It’s a relay folks. Teams of 3. Sick nasty prizes. Sign up online with your teams. Scharff suggested a dunk tank at the end.

XC SKI WAXING: Semi-mandatory. Just go. Wednesday night office hours (7-8PM)

AVISOS IMPORTANTES
:

STARTING NOW only two-day rentals. Also we’ll need your cell phone number if you’re checking out gear.

BYRON SPEECH: People treat this office unfairly especially you officers! Clowns! Byron cleaned the narthex (this religious term was knowingly applied to the COC office). Now you can sit at a desk in the COC office. Keep it clean. The books are messy (I’m pissed). Ultraviolet rays are attacking the maps. Byron started crying – he’s very passionate about this. Give him props (or hugs).

PROJECT UPDATES:

We’re missing tongs and screwheads. WTF mate? Aka tools. We’ll probably buy new ones but not at Walmart cause Walmart is cheap. Don’t shop there.

New ski rack has been thought about. I expect action to come soon. Ben MaWhinney thinks the new design is ideal. We’d love your imput.

Cabin update: People left food – it rotted - way to be lazy. We need to go clean it; Sarah would appreciate your help. There may not be electricity. A team was assembled. They appear capable. Change is coming to the cabin. Yes we can.

Interested in syruping? sstevens@colby.edu email her. We considered bargaining with a mason. But masons don’t bargain. It’s going to cost $600 smacks to pimp out our syruping gear – actually we’re just fixing it.  We voted – done.

Poles update: Swix deal! Swell dude. We need to decide which poles

OTHER FUN FACTS:

Billy Pettengill is going to nationals for boarder cross! Whoa. Represent.

There is free swag in the narthex. But Scharff may have taken it all.

SPRING BREAK:

Final meeting has been had. There will only be four trips. We have $5,000 for the whole shebang. That means a subsidy of about $100 per person. $200 for trip leaders. Additional financial aid will be available too. We’re bringing our own table to Pulver cause they won’t give us one. Trip signups are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. You can sign up for more than one trip (just rank them) On Wednesday night there will be a random drawing to decide the winners. Best of luck to all of you.

THE TRIPS:
Backpacking in Big Bend, Texas with Amelia and Molly
Backpacking the Canyon Lands, Utah with Sarah and Mawhinney
Epic skiing of Katahdin with Ben and Foster-Moore
A Possible Mystery Trip? Not like Scooby Doo. Stay tuned.

…Well that’s all she wrote. It was an incredibly long meeting. I’m exhausted – you probably are too if you made it this far. Peace up, A town down. -Jake
