For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $45 stays in the local economy, creating jobs and explanding the city's tax base. For every $100 spent at a national chain or franchise store, only $14 remains in the community.
Make the Right Turn...Shop Locally.
What is "Make the Right Turn"?
The Make the Right Turn Campaign is an effort to encourage students to utilize local businesses rather than national chains by creating incentives for Colby students to shop downtown and attend downtown events.
How does "Make the Right Turn" work?
STEP 1: SHOP DOWNTOWN!!!
STEP 2: SAVE your receipts from shopping downtown.
STEP 3: Place receipts in an envelope with your name on it. Receipts MUST be in a labeled envelope. Turn in your receipts to the box labeled "Make the Right Turn" outside of the Campus Life Office.
STEP 4: Earn 1 point for every $5 spent and 1 point for every downtown event you attend.
STEP 5: 5 points earn you a free t-shirt! AND, each point gets you entered into a raffle to win great prizes from businesses on Main Street!
When does the campaign begin?
STARTING NOW!!! Collect receipts through the whole spring semester. We will give out the prizes on April 30 at Get Up Downtown at Cancun Mexican Restaurant!!!
Prizes include downtown gift cards, scarves from Earth Bound, free t-shirts, merchandise donated by Guster and more!
