The Colby Equestrian Club is an active campus organization. The Team is a recognized club sport a Colby, is active in the IHSA Hunt Seat division and participates in several shows in the fall and spring sports seasons. In addition to showing, all team members must participate in one group lesson each week. Participation in the club section has no specific lesson requirement. The club meets for dinner weekly. Equestrian welcomes riders with little or no experience as well as seasoned competitors.
Club and team lessons are held at Thistle Ridge Equestrian Centre, which is approximately twenty minutes away from campus. Students visiting Colby are encouraged to contact the team if they would like directions to the barn. During the competition season, lesson groups meet five days a week. Colby competes in Zone 1, Region 2 against Bates, Bowdoin, Colby-Sawyer, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Mount Ida, University of Maine, University of New Hampshire and University of Vermont. In the fall 2007 season, we plan to attend six shows.
