| The mission of the Office of Career Services is to assist current and
former students in preparing for the potential necessity of lifelong career
exploration by acquainting them with the skills, resources, and experiences
that will allow for the evaluation and pursuit of new career options on
a continuing basis.
How Career Services Can Help You
Alumni
Networking
The Colby Alumni Directory
is the place to find alumni for networking.
You may search by name, career field, job title, employer, or location.
All alumni have been given an ID number to allow them to enter the on-line
community and set a password for their continued use of the database.
Please note: Alumni with questions about this service should contact
the Alumni Relations Office at 207-872-3190.
Career Services Library
The Career
Services library is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. during the regular semester. During breaks and summer, the library
closes at 4:30. You may, however, be able to access many of the resources
in our library at a library near you.
Reference Files
Your reference
file is available for use for 15 years after you graduate. After that
files are destroyed unless they are still actively being used. Call, e-mail,
fax or mail your requests to have references sent out -- we can usually
fulfill your requests within one business day.
eRecruiting
With eRecruiting,
you can browse listings on a read-only basis. Do not enter information
in a profile -- it will not be saved. You may read job listings but will
not be able to upload documents. Call Career Services at 207-859-4140
for a user name and password.
Career
Counseling
Career
Counseling is available to alumni. If you are coming to campus and
would like to talk with a staff
member, please make an appointment in advance. Phone appointments
may also be scheduled with a staff member.
Graduate School Advising
The Pre-Law and Pre-Med advisors are available to assist Colby alumni applying to further education in those fields. Call Career Services to set up an appointment in person or by phone. Alumni applying to graduate programs in other fields may also speak with a Career Services staff member about the graduate school application process.
How You Can Help Colby Students
Recruiting
If you can offer employment opportunities, please click here to learn how
to list a
job or join our recruiting
program.
Internships
If you can offer a January or summer internship, please contact John Kappes,
Internship Coordinator in Career Services, with the details: phone: 207-859-4147,
fax: 207-859-4142, email: jjkappes@colby.edu
Career Mentoring
If you would like to volunteer as a resource to help students learn about
your career field, please go to the Colby
Alumni Directory and sign on as a mentor. When students search the
On-Line Community, you will be earmarked as a volunteer mentor. Be sure
that Colby has your current home and work information so that students
looking for information about your field know where to find you. Enter
new contact information through the Colby
Alumni Directory or send it to the Alumni Relations Office at Colby.
Alumni Profiles
Career Services has begun to place profiles
of young alums in the networking section of our web site. If you think
your experience might be helpful for students to read about, and you graduated
from Colby in the past five years, please contact us!
