Professional Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships and Scholarships

There are many other professional post-baccalaureate fellowships and scholarships available to Colby students. Graduating students are advised to apply on their own and Career Services will gladly assist with all steps of the application process. Students are encouraged to search eRecruiting for fellowships as well as pursue other fellowship and scholarship opportunities on their own.

Other Post-Baccalaureate Fellowships and Scholarships include:

• Smithsonian Environmental Research Fellowship - Fellowships to support environmental research in residence at its facility in Edgewater, MD for 3-12 months. www.serc.si.edu

• Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship - This program seeks applicants to participate in this year long unique leadership development program for motivated individuals seeking to make a difference in the struggle to eliminate hunger and poverty. www.hungercenter.org/national

• James Madison Foundation Fellowship - This fellowship, worth up to $24,000, provides for master's level graduate study of the framing, principles, and history of the Constitution for current and prospective secondary school teachers of American history, American government, and social studies. www.jamesmadison.com

• Huntington Public Service Award - For public service commitment anywhere in the world. $10,000 stipend for graduating college seniors; design your own proposal or work with an established public service organization. Requires a service commitment of one year. www.nationalgridus.com/commitment/d4-1_award.asp

• El Pomar Fellowship - This is a two year post-graduate program in leadership development and community service.  Fellows work throughout the state of Colorado with the foundation's grant making program and outreach programs. Through their work in the community and numerous opportunities in professional development, fellows learn about the nonprofit sector as well as the role of foundations. An annual class of fellows will typically begin in mid July.  Starting salary is $25,000. www.elpomar.org

• The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans - Looking for leaders who can give evidence of creativity, accomplishment, and commitment to the US Constitution; and for whom graduate education is relevant to their long-term career goals. Those eligible must be "New Americans," which means individuals with green cards, those who are themselves naturalized US citizens, or children of two naturalized US citizen parents.  A candidate may not be on a foreign student visa.  Grants are $20,000 in maintenance and half tuition wherever the student studies, for up to two years. www.pdsoros.org

• Herbert Scoville, Jr. Peace Fellowship - The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide an opportunity for college graduates to gain practical knowledge and experience by contributing to the efforts of nonprofit, public-interest organizations working on peace and security issues. Scoville Fellows will be placed with one of the 23 organizations participating in the Program. With the assistance of the Program Director, Fellows will select a placement which best matches their interests and the needs of the host organization. www.scoville.org
