Career Services for Alumni

Alumni continue to have access to many of the resources they were familiar with as students. Whenever our license agreement allows, alumni may access database and information tools under the Job Search and Exploration links. If you are unable to access a resource, please contact the Career Center for assistance.

ALUMNI NETWORKING
The Colby Alumni Directory is the best resource for finding alumni to network with. You may search by name, career field, job title, employer, or location. All alumni have been given an ID number to enter the on-line community and set a password for their continued use of the database — it is on the label of all mail you receive from Colby. Please note: Alumni with questions about the directory should contact the Alumni Relations Office at (207) 859-4310.

COLBY CAREERLINK
Colby CareerLink is Colby’s proprietary database for job and internship postings. Alumni are welcome to browse the database to post resumes or apply for jobs.

COLBY ALUMNI AND FRIENDS LINKEDIN PORTAL
The Career Center created thirteen career categories on our Colby Alumni and Friends portal to assist with networking and communication. The number of alumni participation is over 3,200. These affinity groups allow alumni and parents to communicate, network, and mentor peers within desired industries. The subgroups also allow the Career Center to target explicit employment information, general announcements, and events by industry, improving on our ability to manage and distribute professional content. Lastly, the sub groups help to facilitate the affinity groups’ interactions and event mixers. Please create a LinkedIn profile and join us on Colby Alumni and Friends.

CAREER COUNSELING
Career Counseling is available to alumni via appointment. If you are coming to campus and would like to talk with a staff member, please make an appointment in advance. Phone appointments may also be scheduled with a staff member.

How Alumni Can Help Colby Students and Other Alumni

CAREER CONVERSATIONS
Alumni are invited to campus from time to time to talk about their career experiences. If you will be visiting campus and would be willing to meet with students, please let us know. We’ll work with you to find a way to link interested students with you during your visit.

CAREER MENTORING
If you would like to volunteer as a resource to help students learn about your career field, please indicate that in your Colby Alumni Directory profile. Be sure that Colby has your current home and work information — new information can be entered directly into the Alumni Directory or you can contact Alumni Relations with the information at (207) 859-4310.

NEW CAREER CENTER JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM: CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
This fall the Career Center will offer a brand new job shadowing program to provide Colby students with the opportunity to explore potential fields, industries, and organizations of interest and to help them further identify and solidify career aspirations. We are seeking volunteers (both parents and alumni) to serve as potential job shadow hosts for this winter and/or future years and we hope that you will consider participating in this new program. To register, please click on the following link: https://colby-csm.symplicity.com/employers/. It is important that you register a new account and please select “Volunteer-Job Shadowing” under “Organization Type” in your Profile. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the job shadowing program, please contact the Career Center at (207)859-4140.
