Employers wishing to recruit Colby students may do so through a variety of channels. Details of recruiting activities and amenities are provided below.
On-campus recruiting—including tabling, information sessions and interviews—begins in mid-September and continues through late November. The spring schedule is early February through early May. (Colby has a January/winter term called “Jan Plan” where many students are off-campus.)

Employers are welcome to post jobs and internships in our database, Colby CareerLink, year round for student and alumni consideration.
Job and internship postings will remain active in our Colby CareerLink recruiting system for 30-days unless otherwise noted by the employer.

Employers are welcome to reserve a table in our student union as a way to interact with students more casually and to build brand awareness. Many employers prefer doing so during the “lunch rush” from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
On-Campus Information Sessions
The best times to hold information sessions are typically Monday through Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00 p.m., as well as Friday afternoons between 3:00-5:00 p.m. These sessions typically run for 45-minutes to one-hour.
Virtual Information Sessions
The Colby Career Center offers employers the opportunity to connect with students remotely by hosting a virtual information session via WebEx. If an employer prefers another online platform, we’re happy to work with the organization to make the session possible.
The Career Center uses a web-based recruiting system, Colby CareerLink, to schedule interviews and manage the transmission of application materials. When you schedule your visit, you may choose to have an open schedule, or a pre-select schedule for your interviews. An open schedule allows students to sign-up on a first-come, first-served basis. With a pre-select schedule, you may choose specific candidates and invite them to interview. Employers can access the database to manage candidate selection—either upon creating an account or upon request to the Career Center.
Interviews are typically scheduled in half-hour intervals beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:30 p.m., with an hour break for lunch (unless otherwise noted). If you need to adjust your schedule, and need space in our office outside of these times, please contact us so that arrangements can be made. Once a schedule has been set, we ask that you adhere to it. Students to be interviewed will be waiting in a designated area outside the interview room. Please call each interviewee at his/her scheduled time.
Finalizing Interview Schedules
Employers may view their interview schedules online at any time through Colby’s recruiting system, Colby CareerLink. A final copy of your schedule and the candidate’s resumes will be printed and available for you either the evening before (if you have an information session scheduled) or in the morning of your visit. Upon request, the Career Center can also e-mail you a copy of your schedule and the candidate applications as PDF documents.
If you must cancel an interview schedule after students have signed up, please notify them of your cancellation directly by phone, by e-mail, or by writing. Also, please contact the Colby Career Center to let us know of the change.
Second Round Interviews
Recruiters typically conduct second-round interviews at their organization’s office. However, The Colby Career Center would be pleased to arrange for second round interviews at Colby, or remotely, as needed.
Informing Students of Your Visit
The Colby Career Center promotes all of its events, including visits by recruiters, via our recruitment system/job database—Colby CareerLink, campus bulletin boards, electronic bulletin boards, e-mails directly to students, and partnerships across campus with faculty, coaches, and other appropriate offices like campus life.
If you wish to offer catering at your event, the Career Center will help with room selection and ordering. The Career Center will send an invoice for associated costs after the event.
A variety of media equipment is available in almost all assigned spaces utilized for recruiting purposes, including screens, a projector, and a computer (typically an Apple). If you are planning on doing a PowerPoint presentation, it is often easiest to bring it on a USB/thumb drive. We ask that you let us know your media needs when you schedule your visit. Upon request, we can also provide VCR/DVD player, television, and videoconferencing technology, and/or have a representative from the College’s Media Resources department be available to assist you with media set-up.
