Welcome to Mule it Over!, Colby’s job shadowing program. Students will connect with alumni and Colby parents to spend one to three days learning about a particular job or career field. Shadowing will take place during school breaks, JanPlan, and the summer, as well as throughout the school year for those nearby.

Finding a job shadow experience is easy! Just login to the CareerLink database and go to the job and internship search. You’ll find a job shadow tab with all of the experiences available. Search by various criteria and keywords to find the best match for you and then apply with a Career Center approved resume. A member of the Career Center staff will then evaluate each application and as many students as possible will be matched (this step is to make sure volunteers are not overwhelmed by shadow applicants). You will receive a notice that you have been accepted as a match and receive instructions on how to reach out to the alumni or parent volunteer to schedule your job shadow.

For Alumni and Parents
Are you an alumnus or Colby parent who would be willing to have a current Colby student shadow you? We would love to include you in our matching database. Please fill out the survey below: Alumni/Parent Job Shadow Volunteer Survey

Shadows can be completed at any time during the year but are more often completed during the summer, JanPlan or holiday breaks. We ask that students give at least two weeks notice when requesting a shadow experience. If students cannot find a match that works for them based on their interest, location, or other parameters, they can work with Sarah Whitfield ’09, in the Career Center (firstname.lastname@example.org) to find one.
