Autism and Strategies

Presented by, Erin Dimbleby, Maine Autism Society. This presentation will provide participants a basic understanding of autism along with various strategies one can employ to support behavioral, social, communication, sensory and educational deficits. CCAK Mentors are invited to join Professor Tarja Raag’s psychology students for a special guest lecture. Mentors who’ve had a mentee exposed to family violence are highly encouraged to attend.

Building Friendships with Children

Presented by, Margaret Cushing. Making friends should be so easy, but many children have difficulty. Why and what is our role as caregivers? Let’s define friendship and the skills it takes to be a friend and then apply the knowledge to the children we know. Register at http://skcdc.org/cco/ccohome.html.
