FAQs

Who are you?

CCYC is made up of about ten to fifteen active members of the Colby student body.  We are completely student run, with a small amount of funding from the school.

Where and how often do you practice?

We have just bought six FJs for use at the Hume Center.  The practice schedule for the Fall 2004 season hasn't be set, but will most likely be two to three times a week.

How often to you compete?

We compete almost every weekend during the season, from the beginning of school until Thanksgiving and then from Spring Break until the end of school.

What type of sailors do you attract?

Many of our sailors have competed in college but were not looking for a full-fledged varsity program.  The vast majority of our sailors have had fairly significant racing experience.  Sailing at Colby is for students who do not want to leave sailing behind them after High School, but at the same time do not want sailing to dominate their college life.

What type of boats do you sail?

FJs!  They're great boats, similar to 420's.  We also have two JY-15s and an Albacore.
