D. Whitney King Ph.D.
|D. Whitney King, Ph.D. Dr. King received
his B.S. in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University and a Ph.D. in
Chemical Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island. He serves
the department as an analytical/environmental chemist and teaches
General Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry.
King is also actively involved in development of instruments for ultra
trace analysis of Fe, Cu, Cr, Mn, H2O2, and O2- in the environment.
Over twenty of these instruments are used by other investigators all
over the world. Prof. King also serves as the Chemistry Department
Director of Colby's Partnership for Science Education.
The partnership works with area schools to improve K-12 science
Dr. Jennifer Shosa received her B.S. in Geoscience
from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, her M.S. in Hydro Geology
from Syracuse University, and her Ph.D. in Heohydrology from Cornell
University. She joined the faculty of Colby College as a Clare Boothe
Luce Assistant Professor in 2000 and teaches Environmental Geology,
Groundwater Hydrology, Structural Geology, and Geochemistry. She
is a member of the advisory boards of the Environmental Studies
program and Science, Technology, and Society Program. Her current
research projects include investigating the hydrogeology of the
Belgrade Lakes Watershed and theoretical and experimental studies
of geologic systems at high temperature and pressure.
