• Research projects include chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and chemical biology approaches and techniques.


• Every student has her/his own independent project and is as focussed on personal growth as on the advancement of the project.


• The typical Rice Lab research student is a junior or senior majoring in Chemistry-Biochemistry with intentions to pursue graduate study. However, none of these characteristics are necessarily required to join the lab.


• Students in the Rice Lab take their jobs seriously! The opportunity to participate in scholarly research at Colby is a privilege.

• Learn their projects thoroughly
• Be ready to present their results in front of the group
• Read the primary literature critically
• Be respectful laboratory citizens and observe safe practices
• Get everything they can from the experience and have fun!
