From a lecture by historian Doris Kearns Goodwin '64 to a performance of Aida with pre-curtain prepping from Paul S. Machlin, the Arnold Bernhard Professor of Music, Colby clubs offered a cornucopia of events for alumni in recent weeks. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Goodwin appeared at Quinnipiac College March 7 with the Colby Club of Connecticut in the audience. Machlin led a discussion of Verdi's opera before a performance in Portland, Maine. Economist Lester Thurow spoke on e-commerce at the sCollege Luncheon Series in Boston March 6, and West Coast alumni gathered at the Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood and at the Hang Art Gallery in San Francisco in January. President William D. "Bro" Adams hit L.A. and San Francisco in late March as he continued his national tour of alumni clubs. Also in late March, in New York City the NESCAC Career Network covered two career fields: museums/galleries and venture capitalists. On tap for May 1 in New York is another Career Networking event--entertainment--and on campus on April 21 will be the 50th reunion of the Colbyettes.
