It is the hope of this Commission that the recommendations in this
document will provide the foundation for a balanced campus social life, where
alcohol can be used, but also where students and others will reject alcohol
abuse and where all members of the community will encourage and demonstrate
responsibility and respect for others. We know, of course, that cultural
changes take time, but we also know that, by working together, we can achieve
these important changes to make Colby an even better place to study, to work
and to live. We feel it would be important for the College to assess the
impact of this report on residential life over the next five years.
