Thanks to Lin Workman for most of this column. Lin gathered the information from our classmates who attended our 60th reunion in June and sent me a detailed letter promptly thereafter. He reports "good food, good fellowship, good weather." And "no boring speeches" at the banquets. Lin and Joanna MacMurtry '41 participated this year in the International Church Music Festival in Coventry, England. . . . Lydia Farnham Johnson came to the 50-plus dinner with brother Frank Farnham. Frank's truck garden operations in Belgrade, Maine, are down to two acres (from a peak of 40), but he still supplies his farm stand on Route 27. . . . Carl McGraw has finally given up downhill skiing but still whizzes cross country on those long, thin slats. . . . Alleen Thompson, still healthy and joyful, added a lot of sparkle to the reunion. Namesake Art Thompson lives in Wellesley, Mass., near Marge Chase's old home. Marge was delighted with Art's descriptions of her old neighborhood. . . . Our third Thompson, Ruth "Krummy" Blake Thompson reports that a hip replacement kept her from attending our 60th. . . . Isabel Abbott is devoted to genealogy and to the history of Union, Maine. . . . Marge Chase Chapman suffered through a recent, botched home repair job but has enjoyed foreign travel. . . . Doris Rose Hopengarten is also a veteran traveler and is doing medical research on her family members. . . . Marge Lier Reed wrote a nice note (beautiful, steady handwriting) expressing her regrets due to a conflict–the high school graduation of her only granddaughter. . . . Ralph Delano experienced an illness in his family that kept him at home. . . . Someone reported that class agent Bob Bruce was enticed onto a cruise instead of coming back to Waterville. . . . Roger and Ruth Gould Stebbins celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. Roger is prospering in his retirement career as a landscape artist. . . . As for me, I spent reunion weekend at the Biennial National Convention of Funeral Consumers Alliance at Reed College in Portland, Ore. Reed is younger and smaller than Colby but boasts 31 Rhodes Scholars! . . . I'd really like to hear from the rest of you out there. Let me know how and what you are doing. I'll share your news with your fellow octogenarians! And Lin, thanks again for a great job at reunion.
