Where he was after graduation
Working for the National Cable TV Association in Washington.
Where he was two years after that
Doing marketing for Time Warner Cable, building cable systems in major metropolitan cities. He was involved in the introduction of pay per view and other innovations.
Where he is now
In Stamford, Conn., where he is Time Warner Cable's senior vice president of new product development.
What he is developing
According to Cablevision magazine, his team is at work on on-screen navigators and video on demand. Home Box Office, for example, could offer as many as 100 programming choices each month. Time Warner Cable would store those titles so they could be tapped by customers at their convenience.
What he thinks of when he looks back
"[Cable] was a fascinating business to be working for as a lobbyist or in a trade association in the late 1970s. We were this little fledgling industry, charging up at the big guys at the top of the mountain: broadcasters, telephone companies and the utilities."
