Diane Cohen Scrafton Ferreira '61, a professor of English at Hawaii Community College, received the University of Hawaii's Board of Regents' Medal for Excellence in Teaching. The award pays tribute to her extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity, and personal values beneficial to students * The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination recognized Elmer C. Bartels '62 with the Commissioners Award, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the human and civil rights of community residents. Bartels has been commissioner of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, a state agency devoted to helping people with disabilities, since 1977 * Bruce W. Kingdon '62 has been inducted into the Maine Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Baseball coach at Mt. Ararat High School, Kingdon was selected for his integrity, professionalism and ability teaching the game.
