The Colby On-Line Community is up and running at www.colby.edu/alumni/harris.html, and all that an alumnus or alumna needs to participate is the authentication number printed on the mailing label of this magazine.

The Alumni Relations Office set the Web site up to give Colby alumni an easier way to find old Colby friends and the opportunity to get a permanent ³@alum.colby.edu² e-mail address that will remain the same no matter how often the owner changes Internet service providers.

Logging on is a simple, four-step process.
• Go to http://www.colby.edu/alumni/harris.html.
  Click on "join now."
• Follow the prompts for registering with the authentication number printed
on your Colby magazine mailing label.
• Choose an ID and a password. (Note that the ID chosen becomes the prefix
of the permanent e-mail address, and neither can be changed.)

The directory, which is password protected so only Colby alumni have access to it, can find alumni by name, class year, location or occupation. New services, including space and tools to build personal Web pages, will be added as the on-line community grows, said Julia Stowe, Web and publications coordinator for development and alumni relations.
