As I sit down to write this column, the holiday is fast approaching in the midst of some of the most unseasonably warm December weather New England has ever had. I hope you all had warm and happy holidays and are enjoying a peaceful new year. I happen to know, however, that at least a few '90ers are expecting big surprises in 2002! Anne Pollock and her husband, John, are expecting their second child in May. Anne is currently at home with their daughter, Megan, and often sees Sheri Berger Bronstein, who is working at Bank of America in New York City. . . . Even more excitement is in store for Jill Cote Rakowski and her husband, Rob, who are expecting twins in April! They are living in Waltham, Mass., and are both management consultants (Jill is back with Andersen Consulting after a brief hiatus). . . . Will and Kirstin Campbell Wilcoxson celebrated an addition to the family, a girl, Emma Jane, in June 2001. They are living in Concord, Mass., where Kirstin works as a marketing and graphic design consultant. . . . Tanja Gross Chevalier and her husband, Paul-Henri, welcomed another daughter to the family in July 2001. Claire is doing well, and her big sister, Sophie, is very proud of her. Tanja has lived in France for nearly eight years now and is very happy with her growing family. . . . Rudy and Erika Dresser Penczer also had a baby girl, in January 2001. Their son, Nicholas, is now 3 and is getting along well with his new little sister. . . . Janet Boudreau-Ceddia had a daughter in September 2001. Jillian Christina is doing very well. Janet and her husband, Chris, also have a son, Nicholas, who is about a year and a half older than Jillian. They live in Hopkinton, Mass., and Janet is planning to return to McKinsey Consulting when her maternity leave ends. . . . And amid all this baby girl news, I also heard from John Hayworth, who had a son in February. His name is John Hedges Hayworth (they call him Hedges), and he has a big sister named Margaret, born in April 1999. John and his wife, Martha, are living in Nashville, Tenn., and John made partner in his law firm in January 2001. . . . Tom McClintock e-mailed me to say that he is working with NSI Partners, a small e-commerce consulting firm. He was hoping to sponsor a Colby student in an intern position in January, and then he and his wife, Kim, planned to relocate from D.C. to Colorado Springs in May. He is interested in knowing if any '90ers are in the Colorado Springs area. . . . That's all the news I have for now. I hope to hear from more of you in this new year.

As I write this column, September's events remain on our minds. I hope you and your families are all okay and safe. Regardless of where we live or what we saw, September 11 has changed everything. Especially unsettling is that we do not know how much and for how long. For the members of the extended Colby community lost or killed in the tragedy, the Class of '91 extends its deepest condolences to you and your family. . . . In January 2001, Gretchen McCarey eloped and married her long-time "significant other," Robert Burkitt, in Woodstock, Vt. They now live in Brookline, Mass. Gretchen writes, "after getting my C.P.A., I have been working in the asset management and venture capital industries. At this time, I am the director of finance for a family office outside of Boston." . . . David Unruh and his wife, Marnie, recently had a baby boy, Morgan David, and everyone is doing well. . . . Emily Gallagher Byrne lives in Nyack, N.Y., with her husband, Rick. They were married last year and are expecting their first child in April 2002. After a brief stint at a "dot-bomb" in New York City last year, Emily is now working in communications for Unilever Bestfoods in New Jersey. . . . As for others expecting, Caitlin Sullivan writes that she and her husband, Drew, will have their first child in the spring (May 31 to be exact.) She also says that she was recently promoted to senior vice president of global sales and marketing for the software company govONE Solutions. . . . Christine Tuccille Merry and her husband, Jim, are also expecting--a baby boy. In April 2001, they bought and renovated a house. Christine is working as a freelance graphic designer, Web designer and mural painter and is currently serving on the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA) board of directors as the environment chair. . . . Leaf Ives Gurr and her husband, Stuart, were expecting a baby in February in sunny Bermuda. The island will never be the same again. . . . Felise Glantz was married on Sept. 22, 2001, to Rob Kissell, with Katie Thomas Trites '93 as the maid of honor. Felise writes that everything "was a bit crazy as we were to be married at Windows on the World, 107th floor at the World Trade Center. After being downtown in the center of things when everything happened on September 11, you certainly rediscover what is important. Rob and I ended up getting married on my parents' grounds in Long Island. It was more special than we could have ever imagined." Congrats, Felise and Rob! . . . Ly Furrow graduated from Oregon State's veterinary school this spring (after earning a master's in fisheries and wildlife from Michigan State!). In May 1999 she married John Guerreiro '90, who is currently a resident in family practice at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. They are enjoying living in Hawaii with their three cats. . . . As for some athletic feats: Walker Fenton completed a 24-hour, four-man mountain bike race, and Shawn Crowley ran the 2001 N.Y.C. Marathon. . . . Jessica Butler continues to cause trouble in Beantown when she is not working hard for Autex, a Thomson Financial company. She also survived her first baby-sitting assignment with Jack Brockelman, John '92 and Tree Sullivan Brockelman's 1-year old. . . . Maryann Hutchinson married Jared Grimm in October of 2000. Gretchen McCarey Burkitt was a bridesmaid. Other Colby folks at the wedding included Stacey O'Brien, Karen Crebase, Judd Braverman '92, Justin '90 and Stacy King Verge, Megan Finley FitzGerald and Sherry Berger Bronstein '90. Maryann and Jed live in Beacon Hill, and she works for Grantham Mayo and Van Otterloo & Company in downtown Boston. . . . Patty Masters has decided to tie the knot and picked June 23 as the big day. Congrats, Patty! . . . Dan Bouvier and I are living in Hollis, N.H. Dan recently joined an orthopedic practice in Nashua, where he specializes in sports orthopedic surgery. I am working for HSBC Securities in debt capital markets. . . . Keep those updates coming! E-mail soon!

Wrap your brain around this: in one year's time we will have been out of school for 10 whole years. You know what that means, right? You have exactly one year to hire a babysitter, wash that gray right out of your hair, lose the joe, get your tolerance back up and make your plans for our 10-year reunion. . . . In the meantime, here's all the news that's fit to print. Shawn Campbell and his fiancée, April Armstrong '97, bought a house in Auburn, Mass., and are planning a July 2002 wedding in Mystic, Conn. Shawn is a software engineer, designing and programming games for WorldWinner.com. Their wedding party will include many Colby folks, including Megan Winchester Caradonna and Mike Zhe. . . . Mark Muir and his wife, Christine (Dash '94), had their first daughter, Ainsley Christine Muir, in June. Weighing in at 6 pounds 1 ounce, she is "just wonderful!" Mark is working at Cisco Systems in Lowell, Mass. . . . Speaking of 'Cisco, Mike Saad is living in San Francisco and works as the office administrator for the SF office of a Seattle corporate law firm, Perkins Coie LLP. Mike keeps in touch with Eric Most, Kristen Schuler Scammon and Janine Deforge Howley and keeps busy by training for marathons and raising money for the SF AIDS Foundation through his affiliation with the AIDS Marathon Training Program in San Francisco. Go Mike! . . . Also in California is Jim Cronin, who lives in Chico and works as a commercial Web designer and consultant. He sends Rob McCarley and Kim Carr his best and says he is sorry to have missed their wedding. . . . Lots of little White Mules running around. Last fall, Lisa and John Veilleux had twin boys, who join their 2-and-a-half-year-old brother in Portland, Maine, where John is an attorney at Norman, Hanson and DeTroy LLC. . . . Heather Vultee Shilale gave birth to twin girls, Chloe Lynne and Noelle Elizabeth, on October 10, 2001, in Westerly, R.I. Heather sends news of Daphne Foran Lessard, who had her first child in late December, and Greta Wood, who bought a new home this past summer. . . . Kevin Flynn and his wife, Laurie (Silverman '94), had a baby boy, Timothy, and are all living in Bethesda, Md., where Kevin is an attorney for an environmental law firm in D.C. . . . Amy Duncan and Jason Kirkfield married in October '01 in Mashpee, Mass. Colby alums in attendance included Mary Anne Sheridan, Patrick Mannix, Ken Wilcox, Kristin Burati, Karyl Brewster-Geisz, Dave Smith and Kaj Jensen. Jason and Amy traveled in Switzerland and Italy for their honeymoon. . . . Jen Cowles Snyder is working at Macromedia, a Web software and solutions company. Jen says, "I have been there almost a year--a sheer miracle in today's high-tech economy." She still keeps in touch with Jason Soules and is currently living in Boston. . . . Warren Kelly has spent the past eight years teaching middle school bilingual science and math in N.Y.C., Lima, Peru, and New Mexico. He recently started a fine arts degree at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver and is currently showing paintings, drawings and installation work in Denver. Warren plans to move back to Taos, N.M., as soon as possible. . . . And on a final note, two of our classmates are making very big names for themselves in the broadcast news industry. Sarah Lee is a correspondent for NBC News in Washington, D.C., and Dan Harris is a correspondent for ABC News. Dan previously covered our nation's capitol and last fall covered the war in Afghanistan! Keep your eyes peeled for them both on the evening news. And please, be careful, Dan! . . . I hope this edition finds you all happy, healthy and embracing the maturity and wisdom of your early 30s . . . or trying to, anyway.
