Honored in 1988 by the Association of Connecticut Library Boards as trustee of the year, Dibble has contributed for decades to the Westbrook community as educator and author. She taught English, French and Latin at Old Saybrook High School for 41 years ; Bern Porter , a physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project and went on to a career as poet and artist, is one of Belfast, Maine "colorful characters," according to a Bangor Daily News feature last January.
