Beverly Benner Cassara '47 was inducted into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the University of Oklahoma in March. Professor of adult education and dean of graduate studies for 15 years at the University of the District of Columbia, she was concerned with women's education as well as with the development of adult education in other countries * The day the war in Iraq started, News of Delaware County (Pa.) ran a story on Richard G. Wattles '49, who signed up for Citizens' Military Training Camp in 1936 and joined the Army on Oct. 4, 1941. He was in the lead platoon when the Army landed on Guadalcanal in the South Pacific in August 1943, and he also served on the island of New Georgia. In 1945, offered the opportunity to stay in the service, he declined in favor of attending Colby.
