Patrick Burlingame '00

What he's been doing
Building a foreign-language library and teaching classes on management, project design and business English in Transylvania.

Transylvania?
Yes, Transylvania.

What brought him there
The Peace Corps.

Where he goes next
University of Szeged in Hungary for nine months of intensive study as a Fulbright Fellow.

His project
An independent research study of the socio-economic plight of minority Hungarians in neighboring countries.

Why Hungary?
Majoring in international studies sparked his interest. From there he fell in love with the Hungarian culture and language.

The Hollywood images he wants to dispel
"Paprika, nuclear physicists, Zsa Zsa Gabor, communism and bohemian-yet-beautiful Budapest."
