Field hockey started with five straight wins and ended the season 8-7 overall and fifth in NESCAC. Marcia Ingraham '02 was named First Team All NESCAC and All-National Field Hockey Coaches Association. . . . Men's soccer stood 4-3 halfway through the season, but injuries down the stretch contributed to a 5-8-1 final record. The team closed with an overtime 0-0 tie with Bates. . . . Women's soccer finished with a 6-6-1 record but failed to beat Bowdoin in the season finale after being up 1-0 in the first half. . . . Women's volleyball had its best season ever and won the State of Maine Championship. Their final record was 17-12. Captain Amanda Cuiffo '02 was a Second Team All-NESCAC player, and the team was rated in the top 10 in New England for the first time. . . . Football shut out Bates 42-0 and kept Bowdoin scoreless into the fourth quarter in a 41-13 victory to win the CBB Championship. A 4-4 record was good for a four-way tie for fourth place in NESCAC. . . . Golf took fourth at the NESCAC Golf Championship held at Williams. Jake Hobart '03 finished ninth with a 77 in the first round and 82 in the second. . . .Men's cross-country placed ninth--up seven places from last year--at the New England Championships, and All-New-England Nat Brown '04 qualified for nationals. . . . Women's cross-country took 11th at the New England Championships. Mary Phelps '04 was the top Colby harrier with a 52nd-place finish. . . . Women's tennis finished ninth of 25 teams at the New England Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Tournament. Sara Hughes '05, Colby's first-seed singles player, teamed up with number-three seed Christina Pluta '05 as the number-one doubles pair.
