In the last few months, I've received many interesting updates from a number of classmates. I'm happy to report an update of my own: I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of James Stewart and Victoria Dobson on June 21. It was a wonderful ceremony and evening of meeting friends and family. It was also a treat to see Jamie get married almost 10 years after he had been my best man. . . . In the May issue of Down East Magazine, Matt Hancock and his brother, Kevin, were profiled for their conservation efforts with environmental groups to ensure that important woodlands in Maine would be preserved. If you get a chance, read the article to see how they helped the environment while solidifying the future of their company. Matt also has kept busy with sports by developing the Hancock Sports Academy with his brother. The academy will feature three full-size hardwood floors for basketball, volleyball and training. In a recent article highlighting the growth of indoor sports facilities in Maine, Matt said that he hoped his academy would provide sorely needed space for training, instruction and coaching. . . . Beth Kubik wrote to say that Chandra Goldsmith Gray had a baby girl, India Fox Gray, in March. Chandra is living in Chicago, working as a landscape architect and teaching landscape architecture at a local university. She also heard from Amy Farmer and Mark Michaud, whose second daughter, Samantha Elizabeth Michaud, was born in July. Beth also mentioned that Mark is operations director for the Dean campaign while Amy is responsible for the volunteer and educator program at the Shelburne Museum. Amy, Mark and their daughters live in the Burlington, Vt., area. Finally, Beth wrote that in the spring of 2002 she completed her doctorate in clinical psychology. In December of 2002, Beth and her husband, Tucker Hanson, welcomed their first child, Elizabeth Svea Hanson. Beth is currently doing her post-doc at a mental health agency in Augusta, Maine, where she focuses on the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders. . . . In late April, Deborah Rebore was invited by Dowling College in Oakdale, N.Y., to speak about her career as an education attorney. After graduating with a law degree from Catholic University, Deborah first practiced law in the areas of child abuse and neglect. Eventually this led her to education law in which she focuses on the rights of special education students. . . . Jill Sinclair Smith wrote to say that she stays in touch with Colleen Bulger Proppe, who now lives in California and is kept busy by her twin boys, Aidan and Blake, who turned 1 last spring. Jill also said that she has been married to Scott Smith since 1991 and that they have three children, Taylor Mackenzie, 7, Morgan Olivia, 4 1/2, and Trevor James, five months. They've lived in the Bangor, Maine, area since their wedding but moved into a new house 18 months ago. Jill is currently working part time as a safety administrator for RH Forster Energy and is taking classes toward elementary education certification. . . . Nate Clapp started work last September as a camera assistant on a new HBO show, K Street. Steven Soderbergh is the director and co-produces it with George Clooney. Nate also mentioned that Clooney would be a cameraman for the first episode and that two of the stars are Mary Matalin and James Carville. Congratulations on the new gig, Nate. I'm sure you'll have lots of interesting behind-the-scenes stories. . . . Thank you all for the updates. Keep them coming.

(Bill Higgins works for him in our office in Newton, Mass.) "On the drive back to N.Y.C. that night," he wrote, "my pregnant wife wasn't quite feeling right. We headed straight to her N.Y.C. hospital, where she gave birth to our first child a few hours later! Peter Andrew is the first grandchild on both sides so he's already quite spoiled!" . . . David Unruh reports that his wife, Marnie, and 2-year-old son, Morgan, are doing well in Pittsburgh. He was recently made director of major gifts at Carnegie Mellon University, where he has been employed for the past eight years. . . . She also writes and edits the Berkman Center's newsletter, "The Filter," on Internet law and policy. Last year she was a panelist at two conferences (Yale and Berkeley) on Web logs and why they matter. And last summer she was married "to one of the sweetest, warmest people I have ever met." Donna also wishes Emilie Miller-Vickers to know that she is thinking of her! . . . Brian Quinn's update is much appreciated: "Dave Ford recently got engaged and is currently living in Newton while working at Northeastern University. When they wrote, Erin (Kelly '91) and Chuck DiGrande expected their third girl "any day now," so by the time this appears in print their new addition should be here. . . . Hey Wylie--I'm in New York all the time, so save me a spot. . . . (Ever notice our classmates have cool names for their kids?) I had to pry a little bit, but Nicole eventually gave me some great updates (and a funny story about the blackout and the need to empty her fridge). She tells me that Cecily Von Ziegesar is living in Brooklyn with her husband, Richard, and her 2-year-old, Agnes. Cecily just submitted to her publisher her fourth book in a teen series called Gossip Girl. In September she and the series were featured on the cover of the N.Y. Times Styles section. . . .
