Scott and Kerry Knudsen Galson moved to Chicago last summer with their son, Avery. Scott is attending graduate school at Northwestern University and teaching in a Chicago public school. . . . Brendan Cavanaugh was to start a cardiology fellowship at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago this year. . . . Kaatje Van der Hoeven Kraft continues to teach geology at Mesa Community College in Arizona and is actively working with local teachers to bring up the level of science education in the state. Last summer she hoped to hike the last 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail. . . . Lisa Zorn, whom I see from time to time, has been working this last year in and around New York City at various hospitals as she finished her last year of medical school. She began her residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston in the summer. . . . Jake and Darragh Fitzsimons Young expected their first baby at the end of August. They climbed Mount Washington in New Hampshire in May and ran into Leslie Campbell '93. Darragh is still working for her brother's software company in New York City, but she and Jake now live in the New Jersey suburb of Maplewood. "The plan was, house, dog, then baby," writes Darragh. "We ended skipping right over dog, going straight to baby, but we still can't wait to get a dog. What does that say about our parenting skills/expectations?" Darragh recently saw Lisa Kenerson, Rachel Lapkin and Cara O'Flynn at Lisa's great new condo in Burlington, Vt. Lisa moved there from Seattle, still works for Mercer and was thinking of buying a dog. Rachel received her master's in library sciences and has been working in Chicago restoring antique museum-quality books but was looking for a new job last summer. Cara also was looking for a new job; she's been living in New York City working in media research and is still dancing quite a bit. . . . Deborah Fletcher Muniz, her husband, Rafael, and their 2-year-old daughter, Amanda, moved to Southern California and like the West Coast life. She enjoys her time at home with Amanda as well as her new hobby: running marathons. She attended the weddings of Nikki Breen, Dee Loew and Jason Mahoney last summer. "It was great to catch up with Colby friends and see how life has changed," writes Deb. "E-mail (debmuniz@hotmail.com) if you are in the area and need a place to stay. We love to have guests." . . . Heather Beusse lives in Oregon and works in Intel's finance department. In her limited free time, she helped write the business plan, budget and several grant applications for GLOBIO (www.globio.org), a Portland, Ore., nonprofit. GLOBIO is working to build hands-on, interactive biodiversity education, including the tools and curriculum required to engage and motivate the world's children to address biodiversity issues. . . . Greg '93 and Alyssa Bensetler Suffredini live in Winchester, Mass., and report the birth of their second son, Kevin, in May. Their first son, Matthew, is almost 2. . . . Ned '92 and Kristen Hanssen Goodell had a girl, Zella Marion, in May. "I am taking a year off from my surgical residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center to do research so I can spend more time with her; I'll return to the ridiculous work hours and call schedule next year," writes Kristen, who also reports having Mike Murphy as a medical student during his third year at Tufts Medical School. Kristen regularly sees Julie Rentz, Maureen Finn Schwartz and Alyssa Falwell Ross and her two boys. "Julie keeps breaking her own records for being awarded grants and contracts to manufacture the laser-based measuring devices she invents," says Kristen. She, Julie, Maureen and Alyssa attended the September wedding of Ben Damon and Erika Schlicting, who met rowing on the Charles River in Boston. Kathryn Cosgrove flew in from London for the event. Her business, Chic Lets, leases high-end designer apartments to business travelers. . . . Jason '96 and Betsy Robinson Phillips welcomed Ethan Wendell Phillips on July 24, 2003. They reside in Portland, Maine, where Betsy is a dentist and Jason is the owner of All Elements Landscaping. . . . Douglas Macauley received his master's in business administration in 2000 from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and is again working as an investment consultant at Cambridge Associates, where one of his clients is the Colby College endowment. "[I'm] working hard to preserve those alumni donations," writes Doug. He recently passed the level 3 Chartered Financial Analyst exam and lives in the Back Bay of Boston. He has recently seen Christian Citarella and Betsy Robinson Phillips and reports that Christian has a daughter named Mattea. . . . Fred and Heather Johnson Webster enjoyed a great summer with tons of sun in Seattle. Fred still works for Glaxo Smith Kline and went on a golf extravaganza in Scotland for his 30th birthday in early August. "He shot a 75 on the old course at St. Andrews," writes Heather. She is still enjoying staying home with their daughter, Gwyneth, who is now 18 months old. She is also working part time in the business office at a local gym.
