Two alums have been nominated to join the Colby College Board of Trustees for three-year terms beginning in May 2019.

Dave Epstein David Epstein ’86 has served as an author, meteorologist, and horticulturalist for three decades. He spent 16 years at WCVB in Boston and currently freelances for WGME in Portland, ME. In 2006, he founded GrowingWisdom.com, a business producing educational and marketing videos for the green industry.

He is currently a meteorology professor at Framingham State College and teaches a Jan Plan course annually at Colby. He owns a landscape design business, Bloomscapes Inc., and authored a book called Gardens of New England featuring some of the region’s most beautiful private estates, as well as some of America’s finest public gardens, museums and historic locations. He earned his M.S. in counseling/psychology from Boston College in 1994 and is a 2001 graduate of Boston’s Wallace E. Carroll Graduate School of Management. While at Colby, David was an Echo and WMHB staff member.

He has attended nearly 150 Colby events over the past 10 years. He is a former Chairperson of the Alumni Council and President of Colby’s Alumni Association, member of the President’s Leadership Society Committee, and a member of his Colby Fund Class Gift Committee. Dave currently resides in Natick, Mass.


Shaquan Huntt Shaquan “Shaq” Huntt ’13 is currently a J.D. candidate at the Fordham School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Colby in philosophy and psychology. While at Colby, he was a member of the student alumni association, varsity indoor and outdoor track, and the Students Organization for Black and Hispanic Unity. After graduation, he served as a volunteer assistant coach and mentor with the Harlem Lacrosse program through AmeriCorps Vista.

Following that experience, he joined Thessalonia Academy, his elementary and middle school in the Bronx, as a math and English teacher. In addition to law school, he is presently interning with the Federal Defenders of New York. Formerly, he interned with the City Council of New York as a legal researcher and legislation writer. Shaq is also a member of Community Board #2 in the Bronx and a former Colby Alumni Council member. He resides in the Bronx, N.Y.
