July 2005

The new Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center -- an environmentally friendly building featuring geothermal heating and cooling -- opened in mid-July of 2005. Alumni relations, development, and communications offices were making the move from Eustis and Millett House in July, and the center's event room will be available for campus events beginning in the fall of 2005. A formal dedication is planned in October.

March 2005

The Colby Green is functionally complete, and construction of the Schair-Swenson-Watson Alumni Center at northeast end of the green is progressing on schedule. There are still a few odds and ends to be tied up on the Colby Green project, mostly paving and plantings that will be completed in the spring. But the lawn, new parking areas, walkways, and steps are open for use, and many new trees and shrubs have been planted. The alumni center, the first of three new buildings planned around the green, is expected to be completed in May, with move-in scheduled over the summer. With much of the building's exterior shell in place, construction on the alumni center will continue through the winter months.
