The Seeley G. Mudd Science Building, one of four interconnected structures that comprise the science complex, is the home of the mathematics, geology, computer science, and physics departments. Geology has rock and fossil specimen collections for research. Equipment includes an X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron and high-resolution microscopes, magnetometers, and gravity meters. Physics students work in modern laboratories, including two atomic physics laboratories and a laboratory to study semiconductor materials. The mathematics and computer science departments share computer labs in Mudd, including the Natural Sciences Division workstation laboratory, designed for the needs of mathematicians and scientists. |
