Dear Families of the Class of 2015,
Many of us on Mayflower Hill are very much looking forward to welcoming you for Colby’s 194th Commencement. Activities begin Friday, May 22, and conclude Sunday, May 24. Please refer to the schedule for more details.
Commencement exercises will take place on Sunday, May 24, at 10 a.m. on Miller Library lawn. With Robert Redford speaking, commencement is likely to attract additional attendees from the community. Therefore, we are asking you to request complimentary commencement tickets in advance this year to ensure the best viewing for the families of our graduates. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center, where the seating capacity is limited. Each graduate will receive three tickets for seating in the gymnasium for the live event. Additional, non-ticketed seating will be available in the adjacent field house, where the ceremony will be streamed live.
Tickets for meals and commencement will be distributed to your senior via the student post office during senior week. Information about commencement weekend can be found on our commencement website, colby.edu/commencement. It includes meal information, complimentary ticket information, and the option to register online. The deadline for meal reservations is Sunday, May 10, and refunds can be requested through Wednesday, May 13.
Because the College must keep the area around the podium clear, it can sometimes be difficult to take close-up photographs of graduates receiving diplomas. Each graduate will be professionally photographed at that moment, and you will receive information directly from the photographer about purchasing the photos at your convenience.
